How to Remove Yellow Stains from Teeth

Yellow stains on the teeth can be a frustrating concern. Not only do several of the foods and drinks we consume daily contain substances which can wear down enamel, but discoloration can also be difficult to remove. Many people buy over-the-counter teeth whitening strips in an attempt to get rid of yellow stains, but the American Dental Association (ADA) seldom recommends these products, which are not known to produce long-lasting effects.

Thankfully, a number of cosmetic dentistry treatments can be used to remove stubborn stains. Our dedicated restorative and cosmetic dentist, Wayde Fawcett, DDS, has whitened the smiles and improved the confidence of countless patients over a career of more than 30 years. The following are some of the most popular remedies available at our practice for yellow-stained teeth.

Teeth Whitening

A professional-grade teeth whitening procedure can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth. We offer both an in-office whitening treatment with Opalescence® Boost, and an at-home regimen using Opalescence® Go trays. Both options involve the application of a hydrogen peroxide and potassium nitrate solution, which can reduce a significant amount of discoloration in very little time. Dr. Fawcett will recommend the dosage of this gel based on the extent of discoloration.

Veneers

Our custom-crafted porcelain veneers can be a wonderful solution for cracks, chips, and even stains in the teeth that cannot be corrected with teeth whitening. These thin, durable strips of dental porcelain can mask moderate to severe discoloration, bringing out the natural radiance in your smile. Additionally, our top-quality porcelain veneers, designed at a state-of-the-art dental lab, are highly resistant to stains and other damage.

Smile Makeover

The cosmetic equivalent to a full mouth restoration, the goal of a smile makeover is to comprehensively rejuvenate the smile. Dr. Fawcett customizes each smile makeover after thoroughly discussing your cosmetic goals, and the procedure can include several treatments at once. Teeth whitening and veneers are popular steps in the smile makeover process, as are dental crowns, implants, gum recontouring, and more. No matter the specifics of your smile makeover, Dr. Fawcett will do his best to remove unwanted stains and other blemishes according to your wishes.
