All-On-4® Teeth in a Day – Same Day Implant Dentures

Patients with missing teeth can now achieve a beautiful, functional smile in just one day with the All-on-4® dental implant technique. The FDA-approved system has proven to be highly successful at restoring missing teeth, using only four titanium implants to secure a fixed set of artificial teeth. Our cosmetic dentist, Wayde Fawcett, DDS, surgically positions the specialized implants in the jaw with the outer two at an angle. Tilting the implants in this way offers added strength and typically eliminates the need for a bone graft.

What are the Benefits of the All-On-4 System®?

The All-on-4® method offers several advantages to patients interested in replacing their missing teeth both quickly and effectively. For traditional dental implants, patients must wait about six months while the implants fuse to the jawbone before the final, permanent appliance can be put into place. With the All-on-4® system, the need for waiting is eliminated, as the implants and an initial set of teeth are placed within the span of just one visit. Plus, the All-on-4® technique offers an alternative to partial dentures, and it can provide a viable option for those who may not have enough jawbone density to accommodate a full set of implants.

With this advanced technique and our on-site resources, your dental restoration can be performed in less time, making it a very convenient solution for missing teeth. Although the implants will be sensitive at first, you can look forward to eating and chewing normally in approximately six weeks.

Who Is a Candidate for All-on-4®?

Anyone looking for a fixed, long-lasting method of replacing their upper and/or lower teeth may decide to consider the All-on-4® system. Whether you have full dentures, partial dentures, extensive tooth damage, or many missing teeth, All-on-4® could potentially offer a customized solution that meets your expectations. Your dental needs, lifestyle, and cosmetic goals are all important factors to consider when choosing the right dental implant option.

Finding out if All-on-4®is right for you is as easy as scheduling a consultation with Dr. Fawcett. Using state-of-the-art technology, he will perform 3D scans that provide detailed images of the jawbone and teeth for evaluation. After discussing your medical history, concerns, and dental health status, he will suggest the best method for restoring a full, healthy smile. In some cases, dental treatment to improve oral health may be necessary before the All-on-4® process can begin.

All-on-4® vs. All-on-6

Dr. Fawcett’s implant denture treatment plans are always customized to suit the specific needs, goals, and budget of the patient. Some individuals are good candidates for the All-on-4® approach, which uses four implants to secure each denture, while others may be better suited to receive six (all-on-6) or even eight dental implants. Additional implants can deliver enhanced stability and stimulate more bone tissue to prevent atrophy; however, more implants can only be added to the treatment plan when there is sufficient jawbone density for support. Dr. Fawcett’s goal is always to help patients achieve the best possible outcome using the most suitable and effective treatment plans.

Why Choose Dr. Fawcett for All-on-4®?

Due to his extensive training and experience, Dr. Fawcett is uniquely qualified to fill the roles of both the surgeon and the restorative dentist for your procedure. He also has a laboratory technician on-site to create your new, custom-made set of teeth. At our practice, All-on-4® is typically a very efficient and reliable method of restoration. Dr. Fawcett’s streamlined approach generally allows patients to chew, speak, and smile confidently in less time than other replacement techniques.

Wayde Fawcett is the most competent, proficient and caring dentist I’ve ever used. The staff are friendly, sincere and very capable. The office is beautiful. I don’t mind going to the dentist any more! I highly recommend this facility.

What Can I Expect During the All-on-4® Implant Dentures Procedure?

Step 1: Evaluation, 3D Scans, & Treatment planning

To begin your treatment, a full dental examination is performed and cone beam CT scans of your mouth are taken with the Galileos 3D Imaging System. Using the information and images gathered, Dr. Fawcett can make an accurate diagnosis and precisely plan the details of your treatment. Dr. Fawcett can determine how many dental implants are needed, where they should be placed, and how they should be positioned to deliver optimal results.

Step 2: Extractions & Surgical Implant Placement

Next, any damaged or worn down teeth that need to be removed are extracted. In some cases, other dental treatments (i.e. periodontal treatments, bone grafting, elimination of any oral infections, etc.) may be necessary to improve oral health prior to implantation. When any areas of concern are adequately healed, healthy, and ready for surgery, implants can be placed. Before placement begins, local anesthesia and sedation (if requested) are administered to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Fawcett will then place the implant posts into the jawbone as detailed in his treatment plan. With the implants in place, Dr. Fawcett can take an impression of your mouth that are used to design and fabricate your All-on-4® full-arch dentures.

Step 3: Denture Fitting & Completion of Your New Smile

When your new set of teeth arrive from the dental lab, they will be affixed to the dental implants and examined for proper fit and aesthetics. When Dr. Fawcett is fully satisfied with the outcome, your new smile is complete! Unlike traditional dentures, All-on-4® dental implants should not move or slip along the gums. The results should both look and feel natural. You will learn about how to properly care for your dentures, implants, and gums to keep your mouth healthy and your smile long-lasting.

What is Recovery Like After the All-on-4® Procedure?

While the recovery process can vary for each patient, it is common to experience some swelling and discomfort in the first few days following the procedure. Any pain is typically manageable with the medication provided to you. To encourage proper healing of the jaw bone, you are instructed to consume only soft foods for at least six weeks. Once Dr. Fawcett observes a certain degree of healing, you may gradually return to your favorite foods.

How Long Do All-on-4® Implant Dentures Last?

With proper dental hygiene and care, your dental implants and dentures have the best chance for a long life. It is important to note that your denture’s ability to withstand potential wear or damage depends, to a degree, on the material they are crafted from. While high-quality implant dentures that are well cared for can last from 15 years to decades, dental implants themselves are designed to last a lifetime. Implant failure can happen, though it is very rare.

Patients who follow these guidelines tend to have the longest-lasting success with their dental implants and implant dentures:

  • Maintain good overall health
  • Brush and floss any remaining teeth twice daily (if you only have an upper or lower full arch denture)
  • Clean gums and the areas around each dental implant with a soft-bristled toothbrush.
  • Schedule recommended annual appointment to remove the appliance, check the status of your gum tissues and implants, receive a thorough cleaning of the appliance and have it placed back on.
  • Notify our office in the event of an issue with your dental implants or dentures so that you can receive prompt attention.

How Much Will My All-on-4® Implant Dentures Cost?

Since every dental implant procedure is customized to meet the needs and goals of each patient, the cost for All-on-4® dental implants will depend upon the unique details of your treatment and custom restorations. The full price of your All-on-4® dental implants will depend upon costs associated with the following:

  • Any necessary dental treatments prior to implant placement (ie. bone grafts, teeth extractions, periodontal treatments, etc.)
  • Any scans and x-rays performed for treatment planning
  • Surgical guides created with the CEREC® system
  • Anesthesia services
  • The type and number of custom prosthetics required (one or two full arches)
  • The materials chosen to create your full arch(es)

Once Dr. Fawcett has confirmed you are a good candidate for All-on-4® dental implants, developed a treatment plan, and determined which full arch materials best suit your needs, he will provide a detailed price quotation for you to review. Typically, you can expect that the cost for the All-on-4® system will be considerably less expensive than replacing each of your teeth with individual dental implants. While dental insurance does not typically include dental implants, our team can check with your provider to see if any coverage is included in your plan. We also offer several different financing options to help make the cost of your All-on-4® dental implants as affordable as possible.
